Lady Gaga Tops DoSomething.org’s ‘Top 20 Celebs Gone Good’ List

DoSomething.org, one of the largest U.S. organizations that helps teens take action on causes they care about, released today its fourth annual ‘Top 20 Celebs Gone Good’ list.
Lady Gaga continues her reign as the star who uses her celebrity to do the most good. Known for her support of gay rights, AIDS, and poverty, she focused primarily this year on bullying, even taking her thoughts to the White House in December. She also announced the creation of her own charity, the Born this Way Foundation, which aims to empower youth and lead them to a brave new society where each individual is accepted and loved as the person they were born to be.
Making a meteoric rise to number two this year is Justin Bieber, up from number 10 last year. His fast rise is due to his prolific work with Pencils of Promise, an organization that builds schools in Laos and Guatemala. Justin is also a consistent supporter of Make-A-Wish, raised funds for charity with his fragrance and holiday album, and recently distributed $100,000 to Whitney Elementary School in Las Vegas.
“There are some interesting trends from this year’s list,” says Aria Finger, COO of DoSomething.org. “It’s dominated by young celebrities and we also see so many couples. Last year the list had its first power couple, Ashton and Demi, and this year there are a total of four couples. Doing good is definitely fun in groups.”
For the first time ever, DoSomething.org’s panel of social media and mobile experts incorporated Facebook voting to help them determine the impact of celebrities reaching an audience with their cause. The criteria stipulated giving money wasn’t enough to count as creating impact; instead, a celebrity needed to take an action others could emulate, like writing articles, building houses, or founding an organization. Facebook fans voted Sophia Bush as the first ‘Fan Favorite.’

“There are a handful of other celebrities who just missed the cut-off this year,” notes Finger. “We look forward to seeing what they will do in 2012.” Current speculations and predictions from DoSomething.org include:
- Will Jay-Z and Beyonce, Rihanna, and Justin Timberlake each use their massive popularity and talent for social change next year?
- How will Zoey Dechanel use her new star power for good?
- We suspect Bieber’s good heart will rub-off on Selena Gomez and catapult her to the list next year.
- With Tim Tebow being the most talked about athlete of 2011, we’re excited to see how he uses his celebrity for good in the coming year.
To determine the rankings, DoSomething.org used its research team and an expert panel, who focused on three elements: popularity, influence, and impact. The first two were calculated using each celebrity’s number of Twitter followers and Facebook likes, as well as their IMDB Pro Scores, Billboard Social 50 ranking, and number of ChaCha inquiries.

Lady Gaga to Release Blu-Ray/DVD From The Monster Ball Tour at Madison Square Garden

Multi-platinum and Grammy Award-winning artist Lady Gaga will release a Blu-Ray & DVD copy of the critically acclaimed, Emmy Award winning HBO special Lady Gaga Presents The Monster Ball Tour at Madison Square Garden that includes exclusive, never before seen footage. Also being released is the album Born This Way The Remix – a 14 track collection of remixes by some of today’s most prominent artists, DJs and producers, including Foster the People, Michael Woods and The Weekend. The new products are also available in a special package called Born This Way, The Collection, that will include the multi-platinum 17-track record Born This Way, the brand new Born This Way The Remix album and the Monster Ball Tour DVD.
All items are available beginning November 21st, the same day that the much anticipated Lady Gaga x Terry Richardson book will be released from Grand Central Publishing.

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi of MTV’s Jersey Shore fame is not famous for being thin. But lately, Snooki’s looking good… really good. So good, in fact, that it seems everybody’s trying to take credit for her transformation. However, despite several companies putting out false rumors that Snooki is taking their products, Snooki cleared up everything yesterday with a Tweet reading: “Glad to hear reports that say I look good =) but it’s not because of HCG! Thanks @Zantrex!”
In an exclusive interview with Star magazine earlier this year, Snooki officially revealed the secret to her recent weight loss. In addition to her “pretty insane” workout regimen, and her new curbs on alcohol and food consumption, the spunky, diminutive Snooki credited Zantrex-3 Fat Burner for her remarkable physical transformation.
Snooki said she was shocked to see how her weight had ballooned during last year’s season on the show, and enlisted the help of a personal trainer in New York City. But the commute from upstate became too taxing, so she decided to take matters into her own hands.
Star reported that Snooki began taking the popular diet supplement Zantrex because “I wanted something that gave me energy to work out,” and reported that it also helps to curb her appetite.
Snooki is not the first celebrity to turn to Zantrex to help reach her weight-loss goals. In 2003 British tabloids printed paparazzi photographs of Britney Spears dropping a bottle of Zantrex-3 at London’s Heathrow Airport, causing a stir of rumors that the dietary supplement was her secret to staying so trim. And in 2007 Dustin Diamond, of Saved By the Bell and Celebrity Fit Club fame, used Zantrex-3 to drop weight fast. Diamond’s use of the product was controversial in the show because his weight-loss results were so dramatic the judges called the use of Zantrex-3 “cheating.”

On a day when only the best would do, Armand de Brignac is pleased to announce it was the Champagne toast of choice for Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries’ wedding reception on Saturday, August 20th at a lavish private estate in Montecito, California.

Following the official ceremony, Kim and Kris’ guests, including Eva Longoria, Ryan Seacrest & Julianne Hough, Venus & Serena Williams, Mario Lopez and Lindsay Lohan were escorted into the property’s mansion, where they enjoyed a luxurious Armand de Brignac Champagne reception. Guests then dined on a four-course meal created by celebrated chef Wolfgang Puck, pairing the starters and main dish with Armand de Brignac Brut Gold and the dessert with Armand de Brignac Rose.
Once dinner and speeches ended, guests toasted the newlyweds with Armand de Brignac Rose Champagne.

Rihanna Returns to Her Barbados Homeland for Legendary Loud Concert

On Friday, August 5, 2011, Barbadian superstar Rihanna gave a heart-felt performance to 25,000 fans in her native country of Barbados. The Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA) and Roc Nation produced the concert held at the world-renowned Kensington Oval which featured pyrotechnics, elaborate costumes and cutting edge choreography.
Rihanna took a moment to reflect on her roots on stage, stating, “Barbados, I just want to thank you guys for your unconditional love and your support. I travel everywhere in the world and nothing feels like this place… never. And it all started like really two streets over from this oval where I grew up, where I was raised, right there in Westbury — singing in the shower, annoying my neighbors. Now I’m back home with a full-on concert for my country. Thanks to you, Barbados!”
Rihanna has signed a multi-year deal with the BTA to exclusively promote her hometown island of Barbados as a tourist destination. The full-length concert officially kicked off the three-year deal. As a cultural ambassador for the island of Barbados, Rihanna will exclusively promote the destination through advertising campaigns, promotional appearances and via her social media presence.
